Enoch is known in the Bible as a man who pleased God and ascended to heaven while still alive without dying, apocryphal Book of Enoch, attributed to him, has some of the most informative accounts of angels and demons.

Enoch: Prophet who interacted with angels

Enoch is said to be seventh in the patriarchy from Adam in the great-grandfather of Noah.

When Enoch was in his youth, still learning to write before he was married, he had his first vision. He would go on to have many visions and be considered a prophet. In these visions, Enoch interacted directly with angels.

The apocryphal text known as the Book of Enoch, while not in the Bible, was known to early Jews and is quoted in the New Testament in the Epistle of Jude. Various fragments of the book of Enoch were found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, written in Aramaic, as well as Koine Greek and Latin.

The Bible only identifies two “good” angels by name, Gabriel and Michael. Only one “bad” angel is identified: Satan. Non-canonical or apocryphal writings, however, mention a few others: Jophiel, Raphael, Uriel, Samael, and Sandalphon.

The book of Enoch, however, gives us the most comprehensive list of both heavenly and fallen angels.

The Book of Enoch is composed of five major sections. Of those, “The Book of the Watchers,” gives us a significant list of heavenly and fallen angels. “The Book of Parables” tells us about the destiny of the fallen angels, “The Dream Visions” tells us more about angels and mankind.

Magicians and Satanists study Enoch

The Bible tells us that angels are messengers, but they are also intended to serve man. Each human being is assigned a guardian angel.

The book of Enoch is not limited to study by adherence to the Abrahamic religions. Those who practice magic or study Satanism also credit Enoch as a source of wisdom of angels and demons.

John Dee (1527 – 1608 or 1609) was a famous mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, teacher, alchemist, occultist, and advisor to Elizabeth I. Along with his assistant Edward Kelly, who served as his scryer, Dee communicated with angels. The result was the Angels teaching Dee their language, which Dee dubbed Enochian.

Contacting the fallen angels: Demons

To those involved in the occult, they also communicate with angels in magic rituals, connecting with those of a fallen nature, what we refer to as demons.

Through the use of particular magical rituals and incantations, practitioners can seek help from these demonic angelic beings. In fact, there is a specific type of magic known as demonolatry for interacting with demons and soliciting help.

The most powerful type of magic involving demons is Enochian magic and Solomonic magic, the latter of which is also called Goetia. However, magicians worn this type of magic is not for the inexperienced. A parallel might be drawn to amateur bomb-making, if you don’t know what you’re doing, you can easily blow yourself up.
