We’ve all heard of faith healers and the practice of faith healing. In faith healing, a “healer” invokes prayers and/or gestures or the “laying on of hands” to invoke healing through divine intervention.
But is it really this healer who has such a connection with God? Is it really true that he or she has the gift of healing? Maybe.
But there is one component that is unquestionably at work. Without this component, no healing will take place. This component resides within the one needing the healing – not within the healer. That component is faith.
Faith is the ingredient that heals. Faith is what makes you one with God and in connection with His Holy Spirit. With faith, everything is possible.
You cannot connect to God without faith. Without faith, nothing is possible.
“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”
– James 1:6
We utilize our faith through prayer as a way of communicating and connecting with God.
Jesus repeatedly spoke about the ability of faith to heal. In one instance, the Bible tells us that a woman, filled with absolute faith in the ability of Christ to provide healing, was healed by her own faith by simply touching Jesus’ robe.
“She said to herself, “If only I touch His cloak, I will be healed.” Jesus turned and saw her. “Take courage, daughter, He said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was cured from that very hour.”
– Matthew 9:21-22
The Bible tells us that Jesus felt the healing power go forth from his body.
“At once Jesus was aware that power had gone out from Him. Turning to the crowd, He asked, “Who touched My clothes?”
– Mark 5:29
Jesus heals a blind man…
“‘Go,’ said Jesus, ‘faith has healed you.’ Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.”
– Mark 10:52
Jesus heals at Gennesaret
The Bible tells us about a mass healing Jesus performed in the town of Gennesaret.
“As soon as they got out of the boat, the people recognized Jesus and ran through that whole region, carrying the sick on mats to wherever they heard He was. And wherever He went—villages and towns and countrysides—they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged Him to let them just touch the fringe of His cloak. And all who touched Him were healed.”
– Mark 6:54-56
In these instances and many more, the result is always the same. The sick or those in need have strong faith in God and Jesus. Through their steadfast faith, they are healed or are provided with what they need.
Faith can do the same in your life.
