God is Always Watching Over Us, Even When We Don’t See

Whether we realize it or not, God is always paying attention to us, keeping watch over us, waiting for us to pay attention to him, reaching out not only in times of need but to express our love.

God is like the sun

“God’s care for His children is like the sun, it’s constant. Even though the clouds obscure it, it doesn’t mean the sun isn’t there….”

Alistair Begg, quoted from “Trusting God in the Dark.”

The above quote is a perfect analogy for God’s love and care and how we interact with it. We also do not see the sun at night, but it has never left its position. The same holds true for God.

God has watched over his creation from time immemorial. He misses nothing.

“Even before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear.”

– Isaiah 65:24

When teaching the disciples how to pray, Jesus reiterated the fact that God is always watching over humankind.

“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

– Matthew 6:7

Seek God first and your needs will be provided

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

–Matthew 7:7

Jesus compared how God cares for us by pointing out how the Lord takes care of the birds of the air.

“Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!”

–Luke 12:24

Jesus said we need not worry over the need of food, drink, and clothing – that God will provide.

“For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”

– Matthew 6:32

Jesus said we need to seek not the material things of this world – but God.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

– Matthew 6:33

Make seeking God your first pursuit

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

– Psalm 37:4

We tend only to seek God when we need him to help solve our problems. Of course, some people never seek God at all. But we also need to seek God to express our love for Him.

In fact, Jesus said that seeking God should be our #1 objective in this life.

“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”

– Mark 8:36

“What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?”

– Matthew 16:26
