The Bible warns of future Christian persecution, and as societal attitudes are changing, more and more are viewing the religion as harmful, while now, Amnesty International has suggested criminalizing Christianity in Australia.

A changing worldview against Christianity

“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.”

–John 15:18

The words of Jesus above our becoming truer every day.

We are seeing a time in the world when attitudes towards Christianity are changing. Issues arising out of different belief systems are coming to an intersection putting Christianity at a crossroads. Ideas that were once agreed upon by most Western societies are now at odds.

There are a number of factors at play for this. One of those is a general moving away from religion among industrialized societies in particular. There have now been generations of people who had little to no church attendance or religious indoctrination.

This falling away from religion was prophesied in the Bible.

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,”

– 1 Timothy 4:1

Another change that is dividing Christians and the secular world are issues the Bible views as morally wrong, which are gaining growing by many people in societies around the world. At the forefront of these issues is LGBTQAI+ discrimination and abortion.

Christians are battling to try to maintain standards that have been part of society for centuries.

You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.

–2 Peter 3:17

This divide is leading to an increase in criticism of Christians, marginalizing Christian viewpoints, and persecution that is trying to remove Christianity from society.

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

–Matthew 5:10-12

Amnesty International suggests Christianity should be criminalized

“Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,”

–2 Timothy 3:12

Amnesty International has suggested Christianity must be criminalized in Australia because it is harmful to individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+, Caldron Pool reports. Could the criminalization of Christianity in other places of the world soon follow?

Amnesty International produced an infographic that criticized the experience of “modern survivors of conversion practices.”

The Amnesty International infographic criticizes conversion practices, in the referring of the behaviors LGBTQIA+ as “sins.” The infographic states:

“Over time, the psychological, emotional and spiritual damage affected their ability to function and live. Those who survived the lesbian conversion movement report ongoing trauma, requiring significant, long-term peer and psychological support.”

Martyn Iles, the Managing Director of the Australian Christian Lobby, shared on Facebook, the Amnesty International graphic and pointed out the theme. Iles wrote that the themes showed: “Christianity is harmful. Christian teaching, Christian communities, and Christian expression must be criminal.”
